Motherhood is a blessing, but that doesn’t mean it comes without challenges. As a new mom, you might find yourself overwhelmed with teething, colic and mysterious rashes. Yet as your multitasking abilities increase threefold, remember to take the time to do the following:
Sleep When You Can
You might not have realized how well you could function on such little sleep before you had your baby. One of the most important things for a new mother to remember is to grab sleep whenever possible. In-between colic flare-ups and feedings lie down for a quick nap whenever your baby does. Ask your parents or friends to come over during the day to give you some time to recharge.
Maintain a Healthy Diet
Proper nutrition is essential for your body to recover after the difficulties associated with pregnancy. Start with a healthy breakfast that includes proteins and complex carbohydrates to give you the energy you need. Yogurt, oatmeal, whole-grain cereal, and eggs are great breakfast foods. Remember to eat often throughout the day—five smaller meals will help you maintain energy levels. Snack on foods with protein and complex carbohydrates, like whole-wheat bagels, peanut butter, or cheese and crackers.
Enjoy Every Moment!
Your baby grows every day, so it’s important to take advantage of the time you have together. Yes, you might be sleep-deprived or not have time to shower for three days, but you will miss all of this when your baby grows up. The bond between a mother and child is as special as it is unique. Make the most of every minute you and your baby have together.
