If there’s one thing I learned from having my daughter, it’s that you don’t need half of what you get at your baby shower. In fact, I can’t believe I registered for half of what I did. The big ticket items such as a car seat, stroller, pack ‘n play, swing, etc. are obvious and necessary… and usually relatively expensive so it was a huge help that our close family and friends took care of gifting us with most of those. However, there were definitely lots of things that I didn’t need and never used (dishwasher baskets, anyone?! I did much better with registering for my baby shower than my wedding shower though- I just finally gave away a mandolin slicer that had been sitting unopened in the box for almost 6 years!). On the other hand, there’s a number of products that I absolutely loved and couldn’t get enough of them! So, I’ve put together a list of a few of my favorite and most used things for the perfect neutral baby shower gift. Whether you choose just one item or group a few together, you really can’t go wrong!
onesies (you can never have enough onesies… solid colors or sweet prints in neutral colors are my favorite)
wipes (The Honest Company are my favorite of any brand I’ve tried so far)
sunglasses (because who can resist a baby in sunglasses?! Especially baby aviators by Babiators)
bunny (we have a poodle by Jellycat and my daughter carries it everywhere! It is so soft!)
soft book (another Jellycat favorite- my daughter also carried this everywhere for months)
diapers (The Honest Company has the sweetest diaper prints)
breathe easy rub (we use this organic one from The Honest Company quite often and I love it)
Freshly Picked moccassins (so cute, so well made, and the only shoes that stay on my daughter’s feet)
Mommy’s Bliss gripe water (my daughter had terrible gas pains when she was an infant and we used gripe water all the time)
Aden & Anais swaddles (these were hands down my favorite swaddles… I do have a few other favorites, too- if you have any questions, feel free to send me an email!)
I also love personalized pieces (such as a monogrammed stroller blanket- Pottery Barn Kids has a great selection!), anything from The Honest Company (everything I’ve tried by them is wonderful but not always something I want to spend money on myself), Tubby Todd, or Zoe Organics, books (if I’m really close to the mom-to-be, I like to buy a pretty copy of a classic and write a note to the new baby inside the cover- people tend to get lots of “baby” books but it’s nice to start building a library for as the child gets older, too… and you can make it a tradition at each birthday and/or holiday!).
