Valentine’s Day takes on a whole new meaning once you have kids. In additional to any romance, use the opportunity to show your kids LOVE! If you are struggling to find fun ways to celebrate, here are some ideas to get you started.
One of the easiest ways to celebrate is with Valentine’s Day themed food. Red and heart shaped foods like this Cupid’s Vanilla Berry Smoothie from The Seasoned Mom and heart shaped sugar cookies and brownies are sure to be a hit with the kids!
For the older kids you can include a little Valentine in their lunch box along with a heart shaped treat.
Decorations and Crafts
You can make some quick and easy decorations with the kids! We love paper. Cut out different sizes of colored paper hearts and have the kids tape them on the wall. Here are some other cute crafts we found that the kids might enjoy:
Heart Crayons from Creative Mommas
Paper Heart Wreath from The Hybrid Chick
Valentine Owl Craft from Free Preschool Crafts
Heart Stamp from Tinker Lab
Make Valentines Cards
Get some colored paper, stickers, and anything else you would like to use to decorate Valentines cards. Have the kids make them for their classmates, teachers, relatives, and anyone else that you think could use a card. This is also a great opportunity to teach the kids to do good. If there is an older neighbor or a nearby nursing home, residents might enjoy some handmade cards from the kids as well!
Take the kids on a scavenger hunt. Put the clues on heart shaped paper and have them walk around the house (or outside if weather permits) on their hunt.
