Sharing that you are expecting with family and friends is such a magical experience. Sharing that amazing news with them and feeling their love and excitement in return! Mommy’s Bliss Brand Ambassador, Lauren Maggi, recently found out she was expecting baby #2 and wanted to share it in a special way.
“My husband and I knew we wanted our kids to be close in age, but with my job as a photographer and having weddings booked so far in advance, there never seemed to be a good time to start trying. But is there ever a “good time” to have a baby? So we decided to just see what happened, and sure enough, I am now due April 14th and we will have two kids under 2 for a few months! Please tell me we aren’t crazy!
Before I even got pregnant, I found a shirt that said “Oh Snap I’m Going to be a Big Sister” with a camera, and knew I had to get it for our daughter Sutton for the pregnancy reveal to our family. And since we were due for family photos anyways, it seemed like the perfect time to do our announcement. They turned out exactly how I imagined they would! When we got our photos back, I went ahead and sent them to get printed and when they came, I put them together in bags like I always do when I give photos to our family, so they didn’t think anything of it. Especially since I had already shared all of our regular photos on social media. I put a few of the announcement photos at the end of the stack to see how many of them would catch on. My mother-in-law got to the second photo before she realized Sutton’s shirt had a message on it. Surprisingly my mom noticed right away! And I had to tell my dad to go back and look at the photos again!
My brother and sister-in-law live about an hour and a half away and I didn’t know when I would see them next. So we told them a little differently. They have two daughters that are about 13 and a half months apart with Sutton’s birthday being right in the middle. When we told them about our first pregnancy, I bought a onesie that said “Big Cousin” for their daughter. Then when they told us about their second pregnancy, they just gave the onesie back. So, I found it only fitting to mail the onesie back to them with a note that said “Your Turn!”
I like to go all out for announcements, and make it memorable for everyone. Which is why Sutton’s Halloween costume will be our gender reveal! We cannot wait to add this little addition to our family and watch Sutton grow into an amazing big sister!”
