We at Mommy’s Bliss know it’s hard as a parent to see your kids when they aren’t feeling well.

Parents want to help their kids feel better fast, but want to make sure they are using solutions and products that are not only effective but are safe. Here are some tips and natural ingredients to help comfort your kid when they aren’t feeling their best and get them back to their healthy selves.

  1. Rest

Get those ZZZ! Kids’ immune systems have to work hard to keep them healthy. In order to let kids’ immune systems recover it is important for them to get enough sleep. Babies may need up to 18 hours of sleep, toddlers and preschoolers between 12 and 13 hours, and grade-schooler 10-11 hours.

  1. Humidifier

Try keeping a humidifier running in your child’s room or have them sit in a hot, steamy bathroom for 15 minutes a couple of times a day. Moist air will help open up their air passages, loosen mucus and soothe a sore throat.

  1. Saline Drops

If your child has occasional nasal congestion, saline drops can be a great option to help provide relief. Saline drops are a fantastic tool that cause the nose to contract, diluting mucus and reduce swelling in the sinus area.

  1. Hydration

It’s is important to drink lots of liquids and stay hydrated. If they have occasional diarrhea or our vomiting they can get dehydrated very quickly. Liquids not only help them stay hydrated, but warm or cold drinks can help to thin out mucus.

  1. Honey

Honey is an age-old remedy used to soothe occasional coughs. Research has also shown that honey can be an effective cough suppressant and can soothe the throat. The thickness of honey coats the throat and helps to thin the mucus, which in turn can decrease cough symptoms. Honey also has antioxidant effects that can boost immunity. Try Mommy’s Bliss Organic Cough Syrup and Immunity Boost, created with herbal extracts, agave and honey to calm a cough, clean yucky mucus, and soothe irritated throats-  Plus added elderberry for an extra boost to the immune system. Honey should only be given to children 12 month of age or older.

  1. Agave

Honey should not be given to kids under 12 months of age, but agave can be a great option for kids 4 month and older. Try Mommy’s Bliss Organic Cough Syrup & Mucus Relief. It’s formulated with agave, not honey, along with herbal extracts to calm occasional coughs, clean up yucky mucus and get your baby feeling better again.

Remember to always consult your child’s physician when they aren’t feeling well.
